Welcome to Knotshot! This video will give you a step-by-step guide to getting started on the grid, making your Knotshot Visualization (KV). scroll down for part 2 – Converting to string. Don’t worry, we keep it brief!

Knotshot may be the biggest thing to happen to macrame since string.

It’s the new app that lets you create and preview your macrame ideas in color.

The Knotshot canvas allows you to color where you can tie a knot and, at the end, turns into your guide to create your own fiber design.

Follow the simple guide below to work through the app.  It won’t take long to pick your palette, change the colors of the knots in the grid, and create designs you can translate into string!

Instructions for making a Knotshot Visualization

Log In

Knotshot will send a link to your email address.  Please follow the instructions to establish your account.  Thank you for coming aboard!

Details – the working KV shows the palette 

Open – KV Library

New – KV set-up page (RF/LF refers to the knot orientation: Right Face/Left Face)

  – Create Pattern – Creates and names the pattern, populates “Details” and the KV Library

On-Screen Menu

Actions

Click high in the pattern to select the “Top Knots” (entry strings) – each of the four strings can have a different color

Click in the pattern to select a knot – select either left or right circles to modify the color on that side

Double click on a knot to switch knot orientation (ie Left or Right)

Drag the blue base of a selected knot along any vertical, horizontal or 45° axis to change colors or the orientation of a knot to that of the selected knot.

When you are ready to start tying, go to “Knotshot Visualizations” to see how easy it is to transfer your new KV to actual knots in color! Watch the video below for all you need to know!

Hint: the cue to action is comparing the two middle strings entering the knot to the same ones exiting the knot…
